I believe that God
is the creator of the world. I see God in nature and his full creation
from the beauty of a still sea to the most beautiful sea life and I like
visiting aquarims.
I learnt quite early in life alone through reading and my studies by reading such works from academics such as physicist Gerald L Schroeder's timeless work before this discussion became more topical that a creator God is not at odds with a more scientific explanation of the world and both views are not mutually incompatible. I am talking here about the scientific theories of evolution, some views are compatible with Christianity as well- such as the Big Bang theory and the Cosmic Inflation theory. As the world was being created it was expanding and inflating and today it is being supported by God. I still look at astrophysics magazines from time to time on this theory.
If you
are really interested in science and the Bible I would suggest the
Christian scientist Hugo Ross's website and the works of Gerald
Schroeder as a place to explore this.
The Vatican do not have an official statement on the age of the world and do not have an official statement on which scientific theory they endorse. The Vatican though welcome science and focus more on theology. The Catholic church do allow for a a theistic evolutionary approach that puts God as the creator of the world. There members have the flexibility to embrace a literal view of the world or a more evolutionary approach if that is what they choose to do.
" (283) The question about the origins of the world and of man has been the object of many scientific studies which have splendidly enriched our knowledge of the age and dimensions of the cosmos, the development of life-forms and the appearance of man. These discoveries invite us to even greater admiration for the greatness of the Creator, prompting us to give him thanks for all his works and for the understanding and wisdom he gives to scholars and researchers. With Solomon they can say: "It is he who gave me unerring knowledge of what exists, to know the structure of the world and the activity of the elements. . . for wisdom, the fashioner of all things, taught me."

The Orthodox church see God as mysterious and welcomes science. They believe God to be the creator of the world and that his ways are beyond us. They do not endorse any views on scientific theory on the creation of the world which leaves members to hold their own views on this. They believe that humans souls are created at conception uniquely by God. They believe the world was created out of nothing by God and not pre-existing matter.
They believe that humans physical bodies were created by dust as in Genesis but make no claims where this came from.

The Church of England to welcome science and do not have an official view on scientific theories of creation which leaves their members to hold their own views on this.

Quoting a few quotes from a astrophysics magazine
“For
many, there’s something very appealing about the Big Bang Theory, quite
apart from its scientific veracity. With its image of a single,
dramatic moment of creation, it conforms to earlier mythological and
religious accounts”
“While an expanding universe is consistent with the Big Bang Theory it doesn’t necessarily require it”
“Yet
the Big Bang prevailed in the end, and the steady state picture fell by
the way side. Thanks to further observational evidence” “Scientists
found it impossible to reconcile this with the idea that the universe
has always been expanding at the relatively slow rate we observe today.
Instead they had to assume a very brief period of Cosmic Inflation
during the universe grew at a truly enormous rate”
